Sometimes the simplest way to start something big is to start right where you are—in your community. Some of the biggest changes we need are in national and state policies, but the call for those changes has to come from us as individuals and community members. Whether it is organizing a book club to learn more about how the environment affects our health or organizing to shut down polluting industries in our communities, there are many ways each one of us can contribute to making the world a healthier place.
